Krista D’Amelio joined NACBA in April 2017 as Director of Government Affairs and Communications. D’Amelio’s work will focus on strengthening relationships and increasing advocacy reach with elected officials and government agencies to enhance their understanding and support of NACBA’s issues. Prior to joining NACBA, D’Amelio served as Global Government Affairs Coordinator at Airlines for America where she assisted to increase advocacy reach and lobbying capabilities of the organization. Previously, she was the Associate Director of College Partner Relations at the Center for Student Opportunity where she helped first-generation students on the road to and through college. A native of Connecticut, D’Amelio began her career in the Office of Lieutenant Governor Michael Fedele and on gubernatorial campaigns. She received duel Bachelor of Arts degrees in Political Science and Sociology from the University of Connecticut where she also conducted published research for the Department of Sociology. D'Amelio's research tracing the evolution of social policy in Connecticut led her to be granted the John G. Hill Political Science Excellence Award and her research abroad in the Arts and Humanity Summer Program in Florence, Italy earned her the 2009 Global Scholar Award. D'Amelio holds a masters degree in Social Policy from the University of Pennsylvania.

NACBA Board Announcement

(Washington, D.C.) The National Association of Consumer Bankruptcy Attorneys (NACBA) is announcing the latest election results for the Board of Directors. Carol A. Colliersmith, Esq., from Marietta, GA, and Edward C. Boltz, Esq., from Durham, NC were re-elected to the Board of Directors. NACBA congratulates Jenny L. Doling, Esq. on being elected to the Board of Directors for 2018.

Edward C. Boltz, Esq, Board Member
Durham, North Carolina

Mr. Boltz received his B.A. from Washington University in St. Louis in 1993 and his J.D. from George Washington University in 1996. He is a member of the North Carolina State Bar, where he has been certified as a specialist in consumer bankruptcy law. He is admitted to practice before the Districts Courts in both the Eastern and Middle Districts of North Carolina. Edward C. Boltz is a member of the Law Offices of John T. Orcutt, P.C., where he has managed the firm’s office in Durham, North Carolina since 1998, representing clients in not only Chapter 13 and Chapter 7 bankruptcies, but also in related consumer rights litigation, including fighting abusive mortgage practices.

In addition to serving on the Board of Directors for NACBA, where he is jointly responsible for directing the State Chair program, Mr. Boltz serves on the Bankruptcy Council for the North Carolina Bar Association and previously served as the Bankruptcy Chair for the North Carolina Association of Trial Lawyers. In April 2008, Mr. Boltz testified on behalf of NACBA in Congress regarding the need for changes to the bankruptcy code to protect National Guard and Reservists returning from Iraq and Afghanistan from the harsh results of the Means Test, which was enacted as the National Guard and Reservists Debt Relief Act.

Ms. Colliersmith received her law degree from the Fredric G. Levin College of Law at the University of Florida and has practiced exclusively consumer and small business bankruptcy law since 2001. She has been an active member of the National Association of Consumer Bankruptcy Attorneys for many years. She is the past president of the Metro Atlanta Consumer Bankruptcy Attorneys Group and former NACBA State Co-Chair for Georgia. She is a member of the Bankruptcy Section of the Georgia Bar and is or has been a member of the Atlanta Bar Association, the Cobb Bar Association and the American Bankruptcy Institute. She is a recipient of both the K. Colleen Nunnelly Award and Hammes-Shulman Legislative Advocate Award. In years 2014 and 2015, she testified before the State House Judiciary Committee on Consumer Protection and Debt Settlement issues. She is a mentor attorney with the Bankruptcy Assistance Practice Program, (Law Clinic) at Georgia State University College of Law.

Ms. Doling was honored with the National Distinguished Service Award in 2013 by the National Association of Consumer Bankruptcy Attorneys. In addition, she was honored with the Hammes-Shulman Legislative Advocate Award in 2016 for her tireless efforts in working to increase the California laws. Ms. Doling is a founding Partner of DOLING SHAW & HANOVER, APC, a highly respected firm serving Southern California. She is the Professor of Bankruptcy Law at the California Desert Trial Academy. In addition, she is a frequent speaker nationwide on the topic of Bankruptcy.
